Impermanence

Artist Book

Medium: Cyanotype, French-fold perfect binding

Preservation is one of the keywords of my practice. One question I asked myself was ‘what would you do if you were handed a book with a limited life span? What would you do to preserve its original form? Would you take photographs to replicate its current state?’. Once a cyanotype publication is made it has a shelf life of 1-2 years, the images will first turn yellowish-brown before eventually fading back to white. Which allows the viewers to consider methods of preservation while reading the memories behind the objects.
